David
Åkerlind

I have always liked technology and building things. A few years ago I realised I had no idea how the tools I used every day were built, so I started to learn. That led me into programming, system development and AI.

About me

I started in front-end development and moved on to artificial intelligence. I am curious, a quick learner and motivated by solving problems and working with modern technology, and I work well in a team.

Education

  1. 2025 – 2028

    Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence

    Karlstad University

Bachelor's degree (BSc). I have built a foundation in programming, data structures, computer systems and artificial intelligence. This term the focus is software development and optimising AI.

  2. 2024 – 2025

    Front-end Developer

    Folkuniversitetet Karlstad

A two-year higher vocational programme: UI/UX, HTML and CSS, JavaScript, React and agile methods. I left after one year to start my current degree in AI.

Experience

  1. June – August 2026

    Tech intern

    Cota Robotics

Internship at a robotics startup that works to automate retail. Most of my time went into software development, but I got to try a wide variety of things, from learning about robotics and testing to bringing in ideas of my own, and I learned a lot from the team around me. I hope to be back next summer.

    • Helped develop robot arms and data-collection software for AI training, including 3D printing.
    • Designed and built a pipeline that turns store video into a point cloud, with 3D mapping of products and a 2D map of the store layout.
    • Cota was at an early stage then, with a small, tight team.

My interests

Running

Stockholm Marathon

I picked up running in early 2026. I am not the fastest, but I really like going for a few runs a week when I have time. My favourite runs are the chill long ones, where you get to see a lot and explore new places, preferably in the morning or on a sunny afternoon.

My first marathon was the Stockholm Marathon in 2026, a really fun race that I get to experience again in 2027, which I am looking forward to a lot.

Built to learn

Vibe-coded study tools

I like building tools to experiment with what I am learning, so I can understand it in a more interactive and visual way. I mostly work with Claude Code and Lovable.

Study tool

ML Playground

When I was learning the basics of machine learning and reinforcement learning, I wanted to see what changing the parameters actually did, not just look at numbers. So I vibe-coded this site, where I can control a scenario and watch what happens. Feel free to try it yourself. I kept adding to it, from the first RL sandbox to flashcards, an exam question generator and more ML tools.

Stats Lab

I am studying statistics right now and wanted help with Venn diagrams, and a quick way to get everything calculated from a set of numbers, from the normal distribution to intersections and unions, with graphs that help me see probabilities and more.
